About us

Railfreight Consulting was started in 2009 by the company’s present Managing Director, Ralph Goldney.

Turnover has grown each year of operation and the company now has a small team of experienced professionals who are working with a variety of Clients at any one time. We are based in London and offer national coverage in the UK. We have also recently worked on international projects in Europe, the Middle East and South America.

Who are we

Ralph Goldney – Managing Director

Before starting Railfreight Consulting (RfC), Ralph was the Deputy Managing Director of GB Railfreight, where he had responsibility for all engineering and commercial matters. Prior to this he worked for the leading rail consultancy the Nichols Group, providing project management support to a number of leading rail organisations.

Ralph is a Fellow of both the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and spent his early career managing construction projects such as the Jubilee Line extension, where he worked on the construction of Waterloo and Westminster stations.

Ralph is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transportation, and holds an MBA from Henley Management College
